Netflix revealed its first official look at “Disenchantment” created by Matt Groening

desencanto-1527089594Netflix released the first images of Disenchantment, an animated fantasy series that features the voices of Abbi Jacobson, Nat Faxon, and Eric Andre. Created by Groening (The Simpsons, Futurama), the show takes place in the crumbling medieval kingdom named Dreamland and centers on the exploits of a hard-drinking princess named Bean (Jacobson), her plucky elf friend Elfo (Faxon), and her personal demon Luci (Andre) as they match wits with “ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools.”

The series, whose 10-episode first season launches Aug. 17, also will feature the voice talents of John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding, and Lucy Montgomery.

“Ultimately, Disenchantment will be about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you,” is how Groening described the show last year.

Groening teased parts of the images yesterday on Reddit, but here they are in their full cartoon glory.

Disenchantment had been in the works at Netflix for more than year and a half. A long lead time is needed for mounting an animated series, which is a time-consuming and labor-intensive process. Netflix has been gradually expanding its animated series portfolio that includes BoJack Horseman, F Is For Family and the upcoming Dr. Seuss’ Green Eggs And Ham.

Watch The ThunderCats are coming back! with Thundercats ROAR

DdgDZNNV4AEXHza

ThunderCats Roar stars Max Mittelman (Justice League Action) as Lion-O and Wilykat, Erica Lindbeck (DC Super Hero Girls) as Cheetara and Wilykit, Patrick Seitz (Justice League Action) as Tygra and Mumm-Ra, and Chris Jai Alex (Star Wars: Battlefront II) as Panthro.

“Staying true to the premise of the original series, Lion-O and the ThunderCats — Tygra, Panthro, Cheetara, Wilykat, and Wilykit — barely escape the sudden destruction of their home world, Thundera, only to crash land on the mysterious and exotic planet of Third Earth. Lion-O, the newly appointed Lord of the ThunderCats, attempts to lead the team as they make this planet their new home. A bizarre host of creatures and villains stand in their way, including the evil Mumm-Ra, Third Earth’s wicked ruler who will let nothing, including the ThunderCats, stop his tyrannical reign over the planet.

Cartoon Network just announced a brand new ThunderCats animated series called ThunderCats Roar, and the Internet isn’t shy about giving their opinions on it.

The new series boasts an art style that has more in common with something like The Amazing World of Gumball than the original series longtime fans grew up with, and the tone is much more self-aware and comedic than that previous entry. Some are responding to that in positive ways and others are a bit negative about the whole thing, and others are just happy that 2019 will see the introduction of a new ThunderCats series.
